Chapel Hill Tire Co. Car Care Center is Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Durham and Chatham county’s oldest family-owned tire and auto repair facility. Founded in 1953, Chapel Hill Tire Car Care Center has woven itself into the fabric of the surrounding community. The Franklin St. location in Chapel Hill, NC is the second location to which owner Marc Pons has added solar as a source of clean energy. Marc met Yes Solar Solutions during the Green Plus certification, which both companies earned. Yes Solar Solutions pioneered a Green Plus Partner Discount Program, which Marc Pons cites as a major factor in his decision to use Yes Solar Solutions as his solar installer.
Chapel Hill Tire Co. Car Care Center is a pioneer in car care sustainability, recently earning Top Shop of the Year for North America, which is just the latest in a long list of awards, for sustainability, quality, customer service and community involvement. Their latest investment in saving energy was the 4.8 kilowatt photovoltaic system on the roof of their Franklin St. rooftop. Using 20 Enphase micro-inverters, and 20 REC 240W solar modules, Marc expects to generate over 6,700 kilowatt hours every year, which equates to a smaller carbon footprint.
